The sustainability agenda is currently key to companies, governments and citizens. It’s vital for people to have first-hand knowledge of the basic concepts in order to understand all issues related to sustainability as a vector of systemic change in the economy, society, companies and our lives.
The course is an introduction to sustainability, regarded as a cross-cutting discipline in our society (in the public and private international spheres) that’s based on the most updated public information on economic, social and environmental issues. It outlines how sustainability is holistically applicable to everyday situations in the population, natural resource use and the global economy and in its interaction with the biosphere, as well as social factors such as a fair transition, equity, equality, diversity, human rights, education and health. By the end of this course you’ll have obtained a broad overview of the key challenges and potential solutions to achieve sustainable, socially just and environmentally possible development while respecting the planetary boundaries.

A lot of reading materials which are good but should have been translated into videos. Also all the Spainish only examples and in Spainish is not useful; find other examples. Continuous mention of how developing countries fare better is SDG indicators and goals being misleading is biased. There needs to be congisance of climate change inequity based on various reasons such as: 1) colonialism, 2) developed nations and rapid and earlier industrialisation or 3) wealth disparity.
This is a good quick introduction to this subject. As its been a few years since this course was published, some of the information is out of date. Also a small amount of the information is misrepresented. Otherwise, this is a good way to start your journey in this subject.
This course gave me a really interesting first insight into sustainability. I realized this is not the end but just the beginning, because there is so much more to learn. I liked that it’s open for everyone and that it shows how sustainability is not only about the environment but also about human rights, labor, population, finance and even careers. these things were new to me and made me see how important it really is and how broad sustainability is, Thank you!
