课程概述

The energy revolution in underway. Renewable energy is growing at an astounding pace - notably in electricity. Wind turbines and solar photovoltaic (PV) systems account for most new power plants built worldwide, and are essential to building a low-carbon and sustainable energy future. As a result, there are countless new opportunities in renewable electricity. This course provides a solid grounding in the basics of renewable electricity. We'll start with how electricity is measured, how electricity systems operate, and how renewable technologies like wind turbines and solar PV work. We'll then cover technical and market fundamentals: how and why renewables are driving change in electricity systems worldwide, how electricity systems are changing to accommodate all these new renewables, and what that all means for those seeking to understand and participate in the global transformation of electricity systems. This global transformation is just beginning; with knowledge gained from this course you'll be ready to jump on board. Excellent course. I have experience in operating power systems and this course helped me understand the changes the power systems and its operators must do to get advantages of VRE.

Instructor Paul did an excellent job with how he handelled the explanation of this course and would recommend taking it for all who are interested in R.E

Quite interesting since it provides an updated view of the market, where we are and where we are going.

Awesome course but the numbers and charts need to be updated to 2024.

1. There are no PDF slides provided to facilitate studying.

2. Much of the material provided was old, as old as 2014, as was the case for the french power mix chart.

3. Lots of repetitive info, repetitive charts, and even a whole section (Introduction to Grid Integration was delivered twice!).

4. The "Introduction to Electricity Storage" video had a single slide for the whole duration of the video.

5. No Advantages/Disadvantages were presented for Li-Ion Batteries, but they were presented for other technologies. There is a lack of objectivity here.

6. When talking about thermostats the professor talked about one specific brand (Nest). This is not correct, it seemed as an advertizing.

The first part of the course repeats concepts about renewable energies that were already seen in the previous module (fundamentals). Too much time going over those concepts. It could be optimized by going directly to the new topics and delving a little deeper into them.

The interviews are a high added value to the content. Listening to the opinion of experts who have their hands on the subject is very valuable.

The instructor is clear and knows very well how to convey the concepts effectively.

Covers a lot of the same ground as the Renewable Energy Technology Fundamentals class in the Renewable Energy Specialization from University of Colorado. The reading assignments were pretty useful but the interviews with industry experts were less so. It would have been more effective to ask the industry experts to prepare presentations on specific topics because the interviews were rambling from topic to topic.

this course will provide you with the knowledge about statistics related to Renewable Power and Electricity Systems but what i need is how to design and how to enhance the systems.

It's more of a factual course than an introductory course or a foundational course. It doesn't quite capture engineering in electricity systems or renewable energy.

The instructor largely just read the slides to us. Not super useful. And it is now 2024, which means a lot of this info is almost four years old. It really needs updating.

The course was taught very poorly compared with other Coursera courses
