This project is decent if all you're looking for basic template ideas for financial statements. However, there are significant issues with some of the information provided. For example, equipment and vehicle purchases should not be expensed on the profit and loss statement. That’s not how long-term assets are handled. Additionally, net income is incorrectly presented as the difference between sales revenue and cost of services; this is actually gross profit. These are fundamental concepts that anyone working with financial statements should understand. These errors make it clear why there’s minimal effort to connect all of the information from the transactions and results for the P&L statement and explain their impact on the balance sheet. While some information is correctly accounted for, other information is either ignored or completely unrelated to the assumptions and information we've been given, appearing to be magically dumped into Retained Earnings just to ensure the balance sheet balances. And the sad thing is, that it didn't need to be this way. This information that is provided is adequate enough to make a balance sheet that works if you insert the information where it belongs. I could go into much detail about some of the other smaller, but equally important issues with this project, but all you need to know if that this project is not a good starting point for beginners nor is it a good refresher on its own. I have to admit, though that it was fun finding all of the errors in the presentation and correcting them!

I can't access the file, I tried all the help I found and nothing. It's not the first course I've come across like this, all those that don't provide another way to share the file should be deleted. And it's ridiculous that we can't unsubscribe.

Please, financial statements are a serious topic that has to be taught by people who knows the matter

Doing these guided projects for excel should not require the use of my personal email account or my personal excel program that I pay for. These are free yes, but I will not log in to any of my personal accounts on anyone else computer. I know you say it is protected but I am not willing to do so thus making my experience not a very good one. This should be changed so everyone can do these.

Being honest here, this course helps you a bunch, or at least, help you with the fundamentals. However, for those who are planning on learning even further, try to find other sources and connect the pieces. This is one of those pieces. It's highly advisable that you don't rely solely on this video for accounting because there is more to this like Debit and credits, T-Account, using '=sumif' on the balance sheet (This course showed =sumifs on an income statement) and so forth, so keep learning!

This guided course was awesome in teaching me on how to input formula's into Microsoft Excel in creating financial statements.

course did not allow me access the microsoft software itself ,how am i suppose to learn......cant you provide us a free account of microsoft only for study purpose.....i tried logging in with all my emails and phone numbers.....now i canot use them again.....

- you gave us the wrong "sumif" formulas. I had to fix it. Even then Only the first part of the profit and loss statement was the same. - When I was taught income statements, I don't remember "Purchase Equipment" being an expense. Isn't it an asset? -As someone who is still a beginner in excel, you could have taught us how to format the cells properly. It was a waste of time trying to figure out the same format as the one in the video. - I couldn't even complete half of the course because of the profit and loss statement....

I look confident using Microsoft Excel, Python, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JS, Bootstrap, PHP, Chart.js, AngularJS, Survey Creation & Analysis with Survey Monkey, Survey Designing and Financial Statement Creation with a focus on Recording Adjusting Entries based on Transactions and Adjusting Trial Balance by making a Profit & Loss statement having income and expenses (monthly basis). This is what I have to say from my experience. All in all, this guided project from Coursera is amazing especially for those from commerce background and those who are willing to learn about financial statements. This guided project is highly recommended and learning at your pace with practice is important. If I can do it, why can't you? I am open to various roles like Frontend Web Development, Data Analytics with Microsoft Excel & AI, Python Development, Operations Analyst, Junior Business Analyst and lot more.
