Well-being is not a one-size-fits-all destination, but a personal practice. This course will empower you to use art as a dynamic tool to care for yourself and your community. Use The Museum of Modern Art’s collection to develop a well-being toolkit designed to deepen your awareness, spark inspiration, and cultivate resilience. You’ll gain insights from mindfulness instructors, therapists, art educators, artists, somatic practitioners, and scientists. Their collective expertise provides a kaleidoscopic perspective on the healing qualities of art.
This course is built for your life and your pace. Whether you engage deeply with a single activity or skip between themes, the curriculum respects your time and curiosity. Through art, you will explore new ways to feel attuned to yourself and the world around you. By considering new perspectives and voices, you will build empathy and insights to strengthen your connection to others in both personal and professional environments. We invite you to embark on a journey where curiosity is the only requirement, and discover how art can help you feel more connected to yourself, others, and the world.
Please note: This course is not therapy. While the course may feel therapeutic and includes the perspectives of therapists and practitioners in adjacent fields, it is not clinical. If you're interested in therapy of any kind, we suggest you reach out to a licensed professional or organization to find the best approach for you.
Welcome to Artful Practices for Well-Being! In this module you will consider what well-being means to you. You’ll explore how experiences with art can prompt different emotional responses and learn a technique to sift through your feelings and experiences. At the end of the module you will have an opportunity to reflect on the connection between art and well-being.

No prior knowledge of art, art history, or mindfulness is needed to complete this course.
Will I earn university credit for completing the course?
Coursera currently provides certificates of completion, but MoMA does not offer additional accreditation at this time.
When will I have access to the lectures and assignments?
To access the course materials, assignments and to earn a Certificate, you will need to purchase the Certificate experience when you enroll in a course. You can try a Free Trial instead, or apply for Financial Aid. The course may offer 'Full Course, No Certificate' instead. This option lets you see all course materials, submit required assessments, and get a final grade. This also means that you will not be able to purchase a Certificate experience.
What will I get if I purchase the Certificate?
When you purchase a Certificate you get access to all course materials, including graded assignments. Upon completing the course, your electronic Certificate will be added to your Accomplishments page - from there, you can print your Certificate or add it to your LinkedIn profile.
Is financial aid available?
