课程概述

This course provides an overview of System Programming for the Linux operating system, or software which is interfacing directly with the Linux Kernel and C library. The basic components of a Linux Embedded System, including kernel and root filesystem details are discussed. The Buildroot build system is introduced, which students use to build their own custom Embedded Linux system through programming assignments. Linux System Programming and Introduction to Buildroot can also be taken for academic credit as ECEA 5305, part of CU Boulder’s Master of Science in Electrical Engineering....

It's an excellent course for learning Linux system programming and understanding how Linux works for user space. You can also create a Linux image for different architectures in this course.

A good hands-on course that provides all the Knowledge, and a Little self-study with the resources mentioned in the course can make you a MASTER.

This is a course laid out meticulously. A section or week where the buildroot image it flashed on target would have been nicer. Overall my course experience was good giving me industry standards of embedded software development.

Extremely satisfied with course. The challenges provided made me lose track of time and work on them until I accomplish it.

It is quite challenging but fair. In the end it is "advanced"

It takes time and effort to solve assignments issues more than learning and working on the topic.

This course was recorded a few years ago and has improved since. Some directories' names and assignment sequences have changed. Because of that, I had to change some sequences to complete the assignment. I suggest you ask somebody to read and do all the assignments to check if they are right. I think this course would be improved with this check.

too many peer assessments sometimes materials are unclear, not always clear requirements for assignments and peer assessment sometimes it is pure luck

I like: - General content and how this is explained in the videos. I dislike: - Be ready to expend more than 50% of the course time fixing problems on your working machine. - Exercises instructions are confusing. - 0 support in the forums by Instructors.

I found the methodology employed in this course to be inadequate for effectively learning this complex subject matter. Throughout most of the video presentations, the instructor primarily read the slides, offering limited explanations or in-depth analysis. Furthermore, the assignment descriptions were not sufficiently clear, posing a challenge even for someone with several years of experience in robotics development, as I struggled to understand the requirements. Additionally, the use of Git submodules, along with various remotes and branches, further complicated the understanding of the assignments. In the final assignment, I was required to engage with a repository designated for that task; however, the remote was linked to the repository for Assignment 5. The task involved configuring a Makefile to point to a repository titled "assignments-3-and-later," which added to the difficulty of the assignment. While this course may serve as a basic guide to recommended reading material, I would advise potential participants to temper their expectations regarding its instructional effectiveness.
