The course for a round the world regatta leads the boats through the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic, Southern Indian and South Pacific Oceans. On their voyage, the skippers come across a large variety of oceanographic situations: strong currents, floating ice, wave formations of every kind and biological diversity. In this course the student will learn about the foundations of the science of oceanography. You'll learn about the classification and formation of the ocean floor, how current sea satellite analysis systems work, the chemistry of the oceans and the processes that led to its formation. To follow this course does not require previous knowledge of oceanography....

The course should have been fully in English.

Otherwise, it's a good one!

The course might be good - It is however in Spanish and not in English. It has subtitles, but that is not what "being in English" means for a course.

Poor translations and contradictory info. I compared this course to similar coursework available elsewhere and to standard texts on the subject. The lectures as well as the quiz questions are very poorly translated into English which makes it difficult to follow the presentation and to complete the quiz materials. In particular, at least two of the questions on the quiz were graded "incorrect" despite the fact that I compared the answers to the explanations given in a standard text for this subject. The focus on the NW Med as a paradigm does not work given the poor transcripts. Explanations of stability and instability are confusing to say the least. All in all, not worth the time.
